About this ministry: The purposes of the Greeters Program are (1) to create a warm, welcoming environment which is conducive to worship and to celebrating the Eucharist as the living Body of Christ and (2) to give parishioners the opportunity to participate as active ministers of hospitality. Greeters stand at the entrances to the Church for 15 – 20 minutes before each weekend Liturgy, welcome people to the Eucharistic celebration, answer any questions they may have, and take the gifts to the altar at the offertory.
To whom is this ministry open? Families are encouraged to sign up with their children; singles will be paired with other volunteers so that there are at least 3 greeters at each Mass.
What expertise is needed? Do your best to provide a simple but cordial welcome to as many people coming in as possible, be familiar with parish activities and/or services going on, and keep smiling.
What kind of a commitment is required? Greeters receive a 3-4 month schedule. They usually greet at a weekend Mass about once a month.
