About this ministry: Adults and children 3 through 12 years old are taught the doctrines and practices of our Catholic faith as well as given opportunities to meet Jesus and to grow spiritually. Children who do not attend Blessed Sacrament Catholic School are prepared for the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation through this program.
What training is necessary? Volunteer teachers should be trained in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd curriculum. Classroom assistants are given training in classroom management and follow the lessons contained in the Atrium Albums. There are regular teacher in-service meetings. All volunteers are required to have a complete background check and attend “Called to Protect” training with the Archdiocese.
To whom is this ministry open? Any adult or teen that is interested in deepening and sharing his/her faith and who likes working with children is invited to join this ministry.
What expertise is needed? Some background knowledge of our Catholic faith and the person of Jesus, a few organizational skills, as well as a little patience are all welcome assets of the religious education instructor.
What kind of a commitment is required? Please check with the Director of Religious Education for the schedule.
