Ages 16-24

Fall TEC scheduled for October 23-25, 2009
An experience in Christian living designed especially for young adults age 16 to 24, TEC weekends provide space in which individuals can reflect upon their ideal, their hopes and dreams, their challenges and struggles. It provides a space to discover Jesus Christ, who is risen and alive in our midst. TEC also provides a space to begin to discover our own uniqueness as God's own creation.

Please visit the TEC website http://www.rockymountaintec.net for more information and applications.

High School Church Slumber Party Retreat
January 22-23, 2010
Life is a terrific adventure, but also a little intimidating at times. So we'll be gathering for an overnight retreat just for the Youth Group. We'll head over to Oblio’s Pizza for dinner, then return to the Youth Room for fun, laughter, discussion about the future, random movies - whatever we want to do! Your High School friends are welcome to join us. Check back for more details near the holidays.

Service Projects

Service to the Church and Community

Service to the Church or Parish community can take on different forms. Service to the Church community can be in the Liturgical, Formational (catechesis, youth ministry), Pastoral, or in the form of Service Ministries (parish outreach to those in need). Students need to realize that as baptized Catholic Christians, we are called to use the gifts that God has given us to serve the Body of Christ.

In service to the Church/Parish Community, students may be involved in one or more of the following…
? Liturgical Service as Greeters and Children’s Liturgist assistants,
? Formational Service as catechist aides
? Pastoral Service as assistants at “Coffee and Doughnuts” after Mass, parish dinners/socials and church upkeep.
? Pastoral Outreach in service to members of your parish community who are ill, elderly, in need of assistance. This may also include assistance in the parish-Giving Tree during advent, food collections for Thanksgiving and Souper Sunday, and other parish outreach opportunities.
? Service to the parish community is not limited to these specific items. The Director of Religious Education may have other parish opportunities for service that are not listed above.

In service to the Wider Community, students may be involved in one or more of the following …
? Volunteerism
? Shopping or yard work for local shut-in elderly or ill members of your parish community
? Local hospital or nursing home visitations
? Hold a baby shower for an organization that works with unwed mothers or teens
? Organize an Advent Giving Tree in the parish
? Donate and volunteer at a local thrift store (Partnership for Social Services).

Service Projects are varied and provide students with a broad spectrum of service opportunities within the Church and Community. Parents and families are encouraged to participate with the students as they complete their service hours each year prior to receiving the sacrament of Confirmation.
Candidates for Confirmation are encouraged to perform service projects in the community. Since we are all gifted in many different ways and these gifts come from God, it is appropriate that we use our gifts in service to others as a way of serving and loving God through our neighbor. Young adults are encouraged to volunteer in a variety of different ways and in different places.
Share your GIFTS...
You have many special talents. Sharing your skills, talents, and "self" with others is your commission. Acts of KINDNESS and GOODNESS happen each day. CHARITABLE words, UNDERSTANDING and PATIENCE displayed towards others, simple gestures of FRIENDSHIP and JOY all are part of your daily routines and many of you do not even recognize it. All these are "Fruits" from the Holy Spirit. We are now asking you to share these gifts with those in our own community and those outside our community who are in need.
